A note from the workshop

A note from the workshop

We've been re-upholstering furniture out of Bristow Farm since 2006. Wing-back chairs that need stripping back to the frame, settees passed down through families, fitted banquettes for a new kitchen — whatever you bring in, the work gets done properly. No shortcuts, no fuss.

— Peter & Deborah, Lancashire Upholstery Ltd

02

Furniture repair

Loose joints, broken frames, sagging seats, worn springs. If it's wobbly, scarred or sat-in to the floor, we can sort it.

A workshop on a farm in west Lancashire

Working out of Bristow Farm since 2006.

We're not a showroom. We're a working upholstery workshop on Gregory Lane in Halsall — between Ormskirk and Southport. Drive up, bring the piece in, we'll have a look and a proper conversation about what it needs.

Questions

Things people usually ask.

Depends on the piece, the fabric and what's underneath. There's no honest answer without seeing it. Send a few photos or bring it down — we'll give you a straight quote.

Most jobs are a few weeks once we've started, depending on the queue and the fabric lead time. We'll tell you a realistic timeline when we quote.

Usually, yes. If the frame's sound, almost anything can be brought back. Springs go, webbing perishes, foam collapses — all replaceable. We work on pieces that look long gone.

Yes — fabric books to choose from at the workshop. You're welcome to bring your own fabric in if you've already found something you like. We'll tell you how much you need.

Often. Victorian, Edwardian and earlier pieces are common in the workshop. We work sympathetically — keep what should be kept, replace only what's failed.
